VFW Day of Service 2026

Post 805 has designated 2 May 2026 as our “VFW Day of Service”.  On that day, we will join thousands of VFW Posts throughout the world to give back to our communities in a measurable way.  Participating in the VFW National Day of Service is also a requirement for our Post to remain eligible for All-American Post honors.  Our specific plan is to support the local “Sleep in Heavenly Peace” (SHP) nonprofit chapter, where we will assemble beds for disadvantaged youth.  We have already donated $2,000 to SHP to purchase the bedframe materials, and we will come together as team-building exercise to assemble the beds on 2 May between 0830-1200hrs.  Moreover, we are also managing a concurrent “Bedding Drive”, to allow SHP to provide the materials along with the newly assembled beds.  There is a donation box setup in the Canteen – the bedding must be Twin-size and new/unopened.   Bottomline, we ask that you sign up to participate in this Day of Service event and consider donating new/unopened “Twin Bedding Materials” (sheets, comforters, pillows). We’ve provided some links to bedding products on Amazon below for your convenience (based on best-value), but there are no restrictions on source of supply — so long as it is “twin-size” new/unopened bedding.  Last year, was a huge success and a great deal of fun.
